Sahil Tanna Physiotherapist IMS Dry Needling Certified, Vestibular Rehabilitation, & Concussion Management
Sahil Tanna has always been passionate about the health industry and he selected physiotherapy as his profession to accomplish his priority goal in life of helping people in pain.
He was drawn to that career especially after he personally benefitted greatly from it at one point in his life.
“After being in a motorbike accident and getting help from another physiotherapist, I was already in a state of mind to consider this as my career in the health care field,” he said.
He achieved his Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree in India followed by his Exercise and Wellness Diploma in Victoria, B.C.
Sahil really enjoys the clinical side of being a physiotherapist and never wanted to just sit at a desk.
Today he says there are so many advances in his field that it keeps him on his toes to find new information and stay up-to-date.
He does that capably with an impressive continual learning program.
Already he has acquired certifications in IMS, Vestibular Assessment and Management, Functional Capacity Evaluation and Part A Lumbar Spine: Mckenzie Institute of Canada.
Currently he is also working on certification with the Fellow of Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy – FCAMPT Level 1.
Besides his knowledge and his experience in a broad range of physiotherapy, he has interest in vestibular therapy and falls prevention.
When Sahil is not working, he loves to play competitive cricket and recreational soccer. He also loves spending quality time with his toddler.
He also dedicates time to guide international physiotherapists like himself to have a better career in Canada.
Lorenda Hattingh Physiotherapist Oncology Rehabilitation & IMS Dry Needling Certified
Lorenda, a proud member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, graduated from the University of Pretoria with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 1996.
She worked in the USA as a locum physical therapist in various outpatient and hospital settings from 1997 to 1999. She opened an active Orthopaedic and Sports injury clinic in Pretoria, South Africa until January 2002. Lorenda relocated to Canada in 2002 with her family where she started her Canadian adventure in Fort McMurray, AB. In 2005 she made Nanaimo and the Island home. In January 2009 she founded Dynamic Focus Physiotherapy.
Through years of work experience and a keen desire to learn new skills, she developed an extensive and varied skill set. At her core she is a hands-on physiotherapist. Her treatment approach includes a thorough assessment of the whole person, manual therapy, varied therapeutic techniques, education and functional exercise. She believes that an understanding of the injury empowers the patient to take an active role in their recovery journey.
Lorenda continues to add to her knowledge base with continued courses in Manual therapy, exercise prescription, Vestibular rehabilitation and most recently successfully completed a Certificate in Oncology Rehabilitation and Breast Cancer Rehabilitation therapist in Denver, CO.
When not at work she loves kayaking, hiking and running. If she is not camping or socializing with family and friends, she is at the dance studio or next to the sport field cheering on her husband and children.
Rebecca Appleton Clinical Coordinator
Rebecca moved to Nanaimo, BC from Kemptville, Ontario in 2014.
She then decided to take a further jump and become a level 2 certified HVAC technician, where she apprenticed and learned that she enjoyed the mental stimulation of the job more than the physical aspect.
Rebecca decided to take a job as a supervisor at a furniture store which entailed a lot of organization and learning a new type of retail.
She realized that she enjoys learning new things in all different areas of study. With her family in healthcare it only made sense that this should be the next step.
Rebecca intends on continuing to expand her knowledge into the healthcare system through online courses.
In her spare time, she loves to do puzzles, play beach volleyball, kayak, and hang out with her dog.
Nikita Shah Physiotherapist Functional Dry Needling Certified & Pelvic Floor Certified
Nikita Shah has been working as a Physiotherapist since 2014. Her experience as a Physiotherapist has been a wonderful journey, nothing gives her greater happiness than watching her patients getting better and transitioning back to their normal life.
She has a special interest in women’s health and manual therapy. Nikita has been certified in Pelvic Floor therapy since 2016. She is also trained/ certified in Functional Dry Needling, GLA:D (osteoarthritis), women's taping, and FCE (Functional Capacity Evaluation).
Nikita is continuing to acquire more knowledge and skills to meet the needs of her patients. She is looking forward to helping you with pain management and functional rehabilitation.
